Spring 2020 Season

During the spring 2019 season, Wesleyan’s A (1449), B (1450) and C (1451) teams each qualified for ORCS, making the third year in a row that all Wesleyan teams qualified out of Regionals.

Wesleyan B (1450) and C (1451) both qualified to ORCS out of the Owings Mill Regional competition with records of 4-1-3 and 7-1-0, respectively, bringing home individual awards from Jillian Pincus of the B team and Alexandra Prendergast of the C team. Lincoln Alkind and Jillian Pincus captained the B team while Drew Kushnir and Tess Vartanian were captains on C.

At the Buffalo Regionals, Wesleyan B went 5-3-0 and Wesleyan A (Team 1540) won second place with a bid to Lancaster ORCS. Kathryn Machanic became an All Region attorney for her outstanding performance on the prosecution (20 ranks)!

Wesleyan University A went onto win the Lancaster ORCS with a record of 7-1-0. The team earned two Outstanding Attorney awards (Nell Buechler on defense and Virginia Sciolino for the prosecution) and one Outstanding Witness awards (Kathryn Machanic for her portrayal of the defendant). Nell Buechler and Virginia Sciolino were team captains.

Ultimately, Wesleyan A was not able to compete at the National Championship in Chicago, IL as it was cancelled due to COVID-19. However, several of our members went on to compete in the College Mock Trial Online Championship and the One Last Time tournament to get a head start on digital mock trial!
